Hi everyone,
As I lived in urban since I was born, frankly, I am so ashamed to say I am not familiar with agriculture. But if I have to find an answer to the question "what is agriculture", I would like to say it is one of the most important scientific disciplines that are often neglected by public, especially urban peple(such as me).
Agricultural science is leaping so fast right now. As we no more cultivate by human or animal power, instead we use mechanised cultivation/fertilizing/irrigation system. I understand that in some part in the word farmers are still digging the earth by the shovel in hands, however, obviously, mechanization and high-techlization must be the trend and mainstream.
The picture I chose indicates a soilless cultivation under experimental circumstance. There are lots of cutting edge techs in modern agriculture that are applied or going to be applied in agricultural activities, such as genetic modified plants, which is still under test and not been proved unharm to human health yet.
Nowadays, less farmer is supplying for more and more hungry mouth. In order to fullfill the scocial need, the key point lies in the agricultural innovations. If there is one specific element that is changing our lives moderately but consistently and will never stop its pace in the future, it should be agriculture.
