Media Service for Rural Sector_Chanju LEE
What I found about a media service specially devised for rural community is "AgChat Foundation." As their pithy tagline, "empowering a connected community of agvocates," goes, their mission is to help those who engage in producing food, fuel, fiber, and feed successfully voice their stories from their own perspective via social media platforms.
For this, they endeavor primarily to educate and equip farmers and ranchers with necessary skills for tapping into Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and so on. The central venue of the foundation is the highly visible "#AgChat" community on Twitter wherein more than 2,000 people from seven countries weekly get together to discuss tricky issues, tell their own stories, and come up with effective ways to relate to people outside of agriculture.
Considering that our society has shifted to the era of social media, whether farmers opt for them or not, it is obvious that they are encountering a crucial need for maximizing such new media. In this sense, I feel that this foundation excellently contributes to getting rural community keep a right track.
